Unfinished Tales

Here are three fanfics—two collaborative pieces and a solo effort—that fell to the wayside for one reason or another. They're pretty much dead projects, but I/we may want to pick them up again sometime in the future... we'll see...
  • Sons of the Gospels - by Dravven and Reeve
    • Synopsis - An ancient power is reborn to unleash his vengeance. An unexpected guardian is destined to stop him.

    • Reeve's notes - Like Blue Shinra, Sons of the Gospels was at least partially based on a roleplaying session at the Final Fantasy VII Citadel. This particular RP, set in an alternate version of the FF7 world, was, I believe, one of the best that the Citadel had ever seen. It went on for six whole months, featured over a dozen player characters, and included a fair amount of story. These storylines included the "Coronet" side-arc, which was largely coordinated by Regent Cosmos, and the main one, in which Dravven became Reeve's arch-enemy. It was Dravven who approached me about collaborating on this fic, and we got six chapters in before other priorities got in the way, and the project fell to the side. I hope we can continue where we left off sometime, even though I ended up incorporating a couple of elements from that RP into Loveless...

  • High on the Highwind - by Cyrus Dogstar and Reeve
    • Synopsis - Two men meet, become friends, part ways, and never see each other again.

      Until now.

    • Reeve's notes - I'm not sure whose idea this was originally—it was just one of those things that sort of happened. I guess it started out as banter, throwing silly ideas around, and then we decided to get it on paper. We only got a couple of chapters in before giving up, and as of this writing, it's unsure as to whether or not we'll continue with it. Oh yeah, and before I go, here's the disclaimer (original and unedited). It's quite critical, seeing as how neither of us condone actual substance use/abuse:
This fanfic is meant for entertainment purposes only. The intentions of the authors are to tell a story; not to promote the use of certain illegal substances. In fact, the authors have never used nor endorsed the use of such substances. In other words, the characters portrayed in this fanfic are products of the authors' imaginations (based on Sakaguchi's originals, of course), and in no way necessarily resemble the authors in real life.
Again, this fanfic is for MATURE READERS ONLY. The authors assume no responsibility for the reader's actions. The authors also hope that if you do read this fanfic, you enjoy it responsibly.

  • TRPTCH - by Reeve
    • Synopsis - A trilogy of FLCL stories: a prequel, a lost episode, and a sequel.

    • Reeve's notes - Well, this was supposed to be a sequel, but only the first two chapters of Lefteye (the first story) and one of B-612 (the third story) were ever written. The "lost episode", -quis -quee, never got much further than my head.
Although to this day I still regard it as one of the greatest OVA series ever made (and one of the most "Westernized" anime series of all time), my enthusiasm for FLCL—not to mention GAINAX in general—has dwindled quite a bit. It could be that I was underwhelmed by the studio's follow-ups Mahoromatic and Abenobashi Maho Shotengai; alternately baffled by the mere premise of and put off by a very early review of Tsurumaki's follow-up, Gunbuster 2; disappointed by the FLCL manga; and so on (oddly enough, I like Evangelion more than ever these days, primarily because of Sadamoto's fantastic [and still ongoing] manga version, though I'm dreading the upcoming live-action movie).
