Urgent News Report: We're sorry to interrupt this boardcast of Death of a Salesman, but we have a disaster to report to you all. At 10:18 tonight, a weapon of mass destruction was detonated at the base of the Gold Saucer in the Corel Desert. Preliminary reports state that this weapon was likely to be a Huge Materia bomb that the renegade Turk Tseng built from materia stolen from Cosmo Canyon last month. We go now to our helicopter live over the desert. Field reporter: It's a scene of total devastation, folks! The remains of the Saucer have been either incinerated or catapluted as far away as Nibelhiem. The shockwave was powerful enough to cause damage even to North Corel dozens of miles away. As of yet, we don't for sure how many people were inside the Saucer at the time, but it doesn't look good for whomever was. The bomb also caused an electro-magnetic pulse, which is what caused the communications blackout immediatly after the bomb went off. In the future, try to stay away from any electronic equipment, since a more powerful blast could cause it overload and shock you severly. Back to you, Christine! News anchor: The local authorites are reminding citizens not to panic. The culprit will be caught before he can cause any further damage. People should be on the lookout for this man, (Displays a file photo of Tseng) and that he is to be considered armed and dangerous and not to be approached. As Saber enters the room, Reeve is rewiring a red Choco Sith... when the shockwave hits. Reeve clutches his head in great pain; as he does so, the Choco Sith explodes. Reeve: GYAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!! Sweating, Reeve regains his composure. Reeve: What was that?! Reeve turns to his desk. A news report flickers on the screen in front of him. Reeve and Saber rush to the front door of the Shinra Mansion. All of the residents of Nibelheim are looking skyward, at a great orange fireball in the sky. The still smouldering remains of two Choco Siths sit nearby. Everyone turns to face Reeve. Reeve: I want a patrol out to investigate the Gold Saucer area, NOW. Also, I will need a messenger sent to see Jung and Sephiroth. It looks like our meeting will have to be somewhere else, same time. They should be in the Corel area by now. Weapons department: I want all Scarlett Nanos and any remaining Choco Siths disabled. And complete the modifications to the Raging Storm units. All Nibelheim base troops are on red alert; Saber will be your commander. Thank you. An arrow lands at Reeve's feet; attached to it is a note. Reeve and Saber read Tseng's latest threat. Saber looks to Reeve for further details. Reeve starts to answer, and then finally realizes: "I can't track him anymore... the shockwave took out the Choco Siths. It's a good thing Cait Sith is off the continent." Reeve runs back inside and fires off a message to Tseng: Tseng, Again I ask: what do you want? Is this about what happened at the Corel Reactor? Sephiroth and Jung are driving parallel to the desert, almost ready to head up the valley to Corel when a huge fireball explodes on their left. The shockwave radiates outward, carrying sand and debris. Jung and Sephiroth dive for cover up front, and the two in back do too. The blast hits the truck, rolling it onto its side. The radio explodes in a shower of sparks. The waves passes and Sephiroth slowly climbs out of the drivers side window. Out in the desert, where the Gold Saucer should be, there is only a raging fire and wreckage scattered everywhere. "Jung, are you alive?" "Yes." "I'll check on Conner and Hiro." Sephiroth gets out and walks around to the end of the truck. Both of them are alive. They are just getting to their feet. "Sir, what was that?" "A huge materia bomb. Jung and Hiro try for about half an hour to get the truck operational. Unfortunately, the EMP from Tseng's weapon has destroyed the truck's electrical system. Jung walks to where Sephiroth is looking at what once was Gold Saucer. The fire is out. The only thing to be seen now is smoke and floodlights from rescue crews. "Sir, what shall we do now?" "We'll never make it out there to those crews, we should proceed on foot to Corel and contact Reeve." Sephiroth and his party start the trek to Corel. Soon, a convoy of trucks starts to pass by. One of the trucks stops. Jung calls out, "Who are you and where are you headed?" "Relief efforts from Blue Shinra. We're on our way to Corel. There is an emergency HQ set up there. Want a lift?" "Thanks, yes." Sephiroth, Jung and the men climb in back with a number of crates and sacks. The truck is put in gear and they start again for Corel. Alert all civilians to stay in their homes. If they have a Storm Room tell them to bring some supplies. I do not wish to do this but no gambles here! (Saber points at a group of high-ranking officers) I want you 3 to guard the road towards the Nibelhiem Reactor. Two on the road and one look out. (Saber throws one of the men the a pair of binoculars.) Men If you have radios i suggest you get them. (Saber turns into the mansion and runs downstairs to the library. He searches for Materia Bombs and finds the book) "Materia Bombs can send shockwaves for about 100-150 miles. The bombs explosion can destroy cities. The explosion is about 25 - 50 miles long." (Saber throws the book down and runs to the offices. Men I want Choppers running routes 25 - 50 miles. Radar's should be set for anything. Planes and if possible people. Or do you mean that little transport Godo sent? It is filled with Wutai ambassadors. Reeve is in conference with them now. Reeve read this. All Wutai resources are presently fighting in the Western Continent against Cosmos's forces.
